Schengen requirements
To obtain a Schengen visa as an Egyptian passport holder, you must submit a complete set of documents. Missing or incorrect documents are the most common reason for delays and refusals.
Mandatory documents for all applicants
✔ Valid Egyptian passport (must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your return date, with at least 2 blank pages)
✔ Completed and signed Schengen visa application form
✔ Two recent biometric passport photos (35×45mm, white background, taken within the last 6 months)
✔ Cover letter explaining your trip purpose, itinerary, and ties to Egypt
✔ Round-trip flight reservation (booking, not ticket)
✔ Confirmed accommodation for every night of your stay
✔ Travel insurance (minimum €30,000 coverage, valid for all Schengen states)
✔ Bank statements for the last 3–6 months showing sufficient funds
✔ Proof of employment or student status
Employment / income proof
Employed: employment contract + 3 months pay slips + employer letter confirming your leave of absence and guaranteed reinstatement.
Self-employed / business owner: business registration certificate, latest tax return, 6 months bank statements showing business income.
Student: university enrollment certificate + proof of accommodation (if studying abroad) + parent sponsor letter.
Retired: pension statement + 6 months bank statements.
Financial sufficiency
As a general rule: €50–100 per day per person. For a 14-day trip, you should demonstrate at least €700–1,400 available funds. Spain specifically requires a minimum of €900 per person (or €100/day). Germany expects precise EUR amounts — round figures look suspicious.
What about the 90/180-day rule?
You may spend a maximum of 90 days inside the Schengen Area in any rolling 180-day window. The EES system (operational April 2026) tracks this biometrically. Make sure previous Schengen stays don't use up your allowance.
