Schengen visa processing times from Egypt vary significantly by destination country and time of year. Planning ahead is critical.
Standard processing times (Egypt)
Most embassies legally have 15 calendar days to process your application once it's complete. In practice:
France: 3–10 business days (via VFS Cairo)
Germany: 10–15 business days
Spain: 10–20 business days (peak season: 20–30 days)
Italy: 5–15 business days
Netherlands: 5–10 business days
Greece: 10–15 business days
When should I apply?
Applications can be submitted up to 6 months before your travel date and no later than 15 calendar days before departure. We strongly recommend applying 6–8 weeks before your trip during summer (June–September) and December–January, which are peak periods.
Can I expedite?
Most embassies do not offer a formal fast-track. However, urgent/humanitarian requests can be considered with documented evidence. VFS Global does not offer guaranteed expedited processing for standard tourist visas.
What causes delays?
Missing documents, incomplete application forms, bank statements that don't meet requirements, accommodation/flight bookings that don't match stated dates, or the need for the embassy to consult another Schengen member state.
